Avril has been a litigator since her call to the Ontario Bar in 2002. She started her career at a full-service law firm where she gained invaluable experience litigating a variety of disputes.  She then moved in-house to a large insurance and financial services company and was actively involved in all areas of its litigation specializing in disability and life insurance, employment and wealth management disputes.

During her time in the Insurance industry Avril valued her connections with all of its members on both sides of disputes and was a frequent speaker at industry conferences and events.  For a number of years she led the Canadian Life and Health Insurance Association litigation working group.

Avril has appeared before all levels of court in Ontario including the Superior, Divisional and Court of Appeal.  She has appeared before numerous tribunals including the WSIB, WSIAT, OHIP, College of Nurses, Employment Insurance Tribunal and the Ontario Human Rights Tribunal.

Avril’s litigation experience has taught her that a settlement is always the best outcome for both parties.  One of her strengths is her ability to connect with people.  Avril brings passion and empathy to everything that she does and knows how to find balance in every situation.

She first studied alternative dispute resolution in law school and immediately recognized its appeal. Avril has been involved in and advocated for mediations both before and during litigation throughout her career as the best way to resolve all contentious matters.

Connecting with people and working with them to resolve their disputes has always been the most fulfilling part of her practice.
