McLeish Orlando take the Ice Bucket Challenge for ALS

Toronto critical injury lawyers John McLeishDale Orlando and Patrick Brown recently accepted the ALS Ice Bucket Challenge. McLeish, Orlando and Brown are all past presidents of the Ontario Trial Lawyers Association. They were nominated for the challenge by Jim Vigmond, also a past president of OTLA.

The trio did not take the challenge lightly. They dressed in business suits, sported water wings and had a kiddie pool set up in the reception area of McLeish Orlando. There was no shortage of volunteers within the firm to douse McLeish, Orlando and Brown with freezing cold water.

In addition to raising awareness for amyotrophic lateral sclerosis, also known as Lou Gehrig’s disease, the firm donated $1,000 to the cause.  Watch Video

They also extended the challenge on to all other past presidents of OTLA.

“In our area of the law we represent many clients who suffer neurological damage. ALS is a devastating disease because it affects motor neurons, while leaving the individual cognitively intact,” says McLeish.

“We’re always more than happy to take a challenge when it involves contributing to a good cause. It would be great if the money this challenge raises could go toward helping find a cure,” he says.

The #IceBucketChallenge movement has quickly gained traction around North America, raising awareness and funds for ALS. The challenge was inspired by Boston College baseball player Pete Frates, who is living with the disease.
