Allan worked for several technology companies (Ballard Power Systems, Automation Tooling Systems, Blackberry) as he completed Systems Design Engineering at the University of Waterloo - while playing varsity volleyball, being a residence don and being a member of athlete’s council.
He obtained his LLB from Queen’s - while playing varsity squash, coaching high school volleyball, and being a member of the law students’ society. He also completed an exchange at the National University of Singapore.
As an associate at Torys LLP, Allan successfully passed all four Canadian Patent Agent Exams on his first attempt.
A more business-centric desire led Allan to in-house positions at Symcor (to handle a cross-border patent litigation involving Canada’s banks) and Volaris Group Inc. (a subsidiary of Constellation Software Inc - TSX: CSU, where he led international commercial and acquisition deals).
Allan now thrives working with former colleagues, classmates and referrals with a particularly deep expertise in servicing technology companies.
Above all else, he wants to help the world be a better place for all. That’s a work in progress.
