Gary Botting is committed to protecting the rights of individuals in criminal defence matters, including extradition law, dangerous offender proceedings and the appeals process. Based in Greater Vancouver, BC, he represents clients throughout British Columbia.
Gary has been recognized many times, including federal fellowships to research extradition law. His Juris Doctor degree at University of Calgary was supported by a Brunet Scholarship. His Ph.D. in law at the University of British Columbia and post-doctorate at the University of Washington were supported by postgraduate fellowships from the Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council.
Gary is an original Paetzold Fellow at UBC. He is recognized as knowledgeable in extradition matters and has published several books and presented many academic papers on the subject. Among his 40 published titles are Extradition Between Canada and the United States, Canadian Extradition Law Practice, Fundamental Freedoms and Jehovah's Witnesses, Chief Smallboy: In Pursuit of Freedom, and Wrongful Conviction in Canadian Law.
