Leanne Goldstein is a Canadian insurance and disability lawyer with more than 20 years of experience. Her practice focuses on litigating long-term disability benefits claims, critical illness and life insurance claims. Leanne also represents clients who are dealing with disability-related employment, human rights and workplace issues.
For more than two decades, Leanne has tirelessly and passionately advocated for individuals whose benefits have been wrongfully denied by insurance companies. She has an extensive range of litigation experience before various courts and tribunals in Canada. She has litigated against every insurance company in Canada and many U.S.-based insurance companies.
Prior to 2002, Leanne practised as an attorney outside Canada with a large international law firm. In Ontario, Leanne initially practised personal injury litigation with one of the top 10 personal injury law firms. She then devoted the next 16 years to representing individuals denied disability benefits at two leading long-term disability practices in Ontario.
Since 2019, Leanne has owned and operated a law firm dedicated to serving the needs of long-term disability, critical illness, and life insurance claimants while maintaining a trauma-informed approach to litigation.
She is regularly asked to appear as a speaker or panellist for various professional organizations including the Long-Term Disability Section of the Ontario Trial Lawyers’ Association, EHN and Parkinson’s Canada.
Leanne has authored multiple published articles and a book chapter on Critical Illness. She has served as a mentor for the Law Practice Program provided by the Toronto Metropolitan University, she mentors internationally trained lawyers, advocates for disability-related charitable causes and provides legal education and services pro bono to community legal clinics including The 519.
Leanne believes strongly that injecting humanity into lawyer-client interactions does not detract from professionalism and that vigorous advocacy and empathy can co-exist. Her goal is to help her clients successfully navigate the litigation process while ensuring that their dignity, autonomy, and mental health are preserved.
Leanne is a Lexpert-ranked lawyer. The lawyers named on the Lexpert Survey have been recommended by their law firm leaders and peers to be so named. They are acknowledged as leaders in their respective fields, lawyers prominent in their practice areas and professional organizations, and lawyers otherwise enjoying significant recognition from their colleagues.
