margaret waddell

Margaret Waddell, partner with Waddell Phillips Professional Corporation in Toronto, focuses on plaintiff-side class actions, commercial litigation and mediation.

After graduating with her Bachelor of Laws from Queen’s University in 1987, Ms. Waddell earned a Master of Laws in civil litigation and dispute resolution from Osgoode Hall Law School in 2002. She was called to the Ontario Bar in 1989 and the Bar of Alberta in 1991.

Focusing on class actions for more than 25 years, Ms. Waddell’s advocacy background encompasses a range of commercial, securities and shareholder litigation, insurance disputes and professional liability cases. She is regularly sought out to lead on class actions, or to partner with other firms.

In addition, her practice includes independent mediation services.

An executive of the Ontario Bar Association’s class-action subsection, Ms. Waddell is their delegate on the Law Commission of Ontario's advisory committee on class-action reform.

She is an executive and head of the advocacy committee of the Toronto Lawyers Association and is a former director of The Advocates' Society as chair of the subcommittee on advocacy and practice.
