Weapons can come in many forms under the Criminal Code

Guns or knives usually come to mind when people think of weapons. However, anything that can inflict harm can be considered a weapon. An Ontario man was recently charged with assault with a weapon after throwing hot coffee at another person.

Police-reported violent crime in 2019 continued to account for about one-fifth, or 22 per cent, of all Criminal Code of Canada offences excluding traffic violations, according to Statistics Canada. The use of weapons was not documented but it continues to be an issue of concern for the public and law enforcement officials. To read more, click here.
